The Grand Midway Hotel’s Shangri-La Coffee Lounge reopens (owner Blair Murphy took a break while he and his Lovely Significant Other–hi, Camille!–was having their Baby Daughter, Luna). Just getting back in the swing of things, Blair forgot to put out most of the creamers and the early attendees were too polite (wimpy?) to ask about it. So he finally noticed and rushed to retrieve them from the cooler. Standard coffee selections tonight: Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts regular blend (plus a wide range of teas and hot cocoa).
First DVD movie on the main screen tonight: AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON. Plus in the far corner (and without sound), another screen is playing one of the LORD OF THE RINGS epics. Next up (in honor of the late Gene Wilder): YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.
Tonight’s porch-side chatter included bumper stickers guaranteed to annoy cops, overly-hungry roommates (she bought ice cream and it all got gobbled before she had a taste), and all the STAR TREK-oriented stuff all over Facebook (in honor of 50th anniversary of the very 1st episode’s appearance. Oh, and a coal train rumbled past the front door a while ago and everybody on hand said their hellos to baby Luna.
