Halloween in July tonight at the Grand Midway’s Shangri-La Coffeehouse. Hot as hell tonight, but tonight’s coffees are Pumpkin Spice and Starbucks regular. And it’s all horror movies–all night long! The first movie? The Haunting in Connecticut– a low-budget effort from 2009. But Blair didn’t seem that happy with it and quickly went to the Jeff Goldblum version of The Fly (inspiring brief comments comparing it to the early Vincent Price version)!
Chef Thom is in the house and just made what for him is a major concession: He says I was more creepy than him in the ZOMBIE DREAM movie. He’s also regaling people with tales of practical jokes played by Blair (including the 7-foot-tall Darth Vader cutout he posted outside Thom’s bedroom to freak him out one night).
Several regulars came in costume tonight–in line with the Halloween theme. Come and say hello to Vish (now staying at the Midway–and the alleged ‘chess master’ Blair mentioned). With Leonid also on hand, a chess match seemed likely.
Meanwhile, a couple of the younger regulars are playing a card role-playing game.
