June 30, 2016 at the Grand Midway

coffeeWindber’s fabulous haunted hotel, the Grand Midway, is in the midst of its weekly coffeehouse. Tonight’s 1st movie on DVD was the ultra-violent Savages, followed by Fight Club (do we already sense  a pattern for the evening?). Coffee selections are Sam’s Choice Medium Blend and Dunkin’ Donuts’ Regular. And there are free cookies (leftovers from the baby shower)!

The newest addition to the scene is a KILLER PLANT: A small Venus Flytrap who has already bagged itself 2 insects. Things being discussed tonight included: Infant care experiences (and the breast feeding vs the bottle conflict), service industry blues (such as when you find yourself automatically saying “have a nice day” no matter how displeased the customer is) and various local tattoo artists (skill level, prices, etc). Ways of freaking out/frustrating various door-to-door bible-thumpers also came up.

I scored another free book (an EL Doctorow novel about the Civil War). A 3rd movie has started: SOMETHING’S GOT TO GIVE, starring Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton.
